Japanese fast-fashion brand Uniqlo and Finnish design brand Marimekko are making fashion fans from all over the world ecstatic yet again with their new limited-edition capsule for Summer 2021.
The top-of-the-line selection is once again built on the strengths of the two brands—the signature Uniqlo simplicity and Marimekko’s playful prints that surely energize people everywhere.
The new collection is inspired by the joy and optimism of Nordic midsummer. The print selection was chosen to reflect the beauty and energy of this magical time of year. Marimekko’s rich, summery patterns together with Uniqlo’s functional wardrobe staples evoke the perfect summer ease. It also showcases prints by two of Marimekko’s most iconic designers—Fujiwo Ishimoto‘s exquisite floral designs and Annika Rimala‘s lively stripes.
Three prints created by Fujiwo Ishimoto are making a comeback for this collection namely the Seitsemän kukkaa (seven flowers) design that took inspiration from picking flowers during midsummer; the Talkoot (work party) floral design; and lastly the Pikkulempi (little love) pattern, representing flowers in a meadow. The collection also features the Aitanovi (cottage door) and Aita (fence) prints paying homage to Finnish designer Annika Rimala, best known for her modernistic and rhythmical designs.
The collection takes you back to relaxing times with the Denim V-Neck Blouse for women that perfectly pairs with a Denim Long Skirt with the same pattern.
Girls’ sleeveless dresses have the same patterns as women’s camisole dresses for mother and daughter coordination. The capsule collection includes gorgeous graphic T-shirts, comfortable jersey dresses, and babies’ dresses and leggings in busting colors of yellow, magenta, and other vivid hues to enhance the enjoyment of mixing and matching patterns.
The selection also features colorful accessories such as a wide-brimmed hat, shoulder bag, and espadrille sandals that will add a playful touch to the denim styling.
