Based on the original Caliber 9F, the Caliber 9F86 been incorporated with a GMT function, allowing the watch’s precision to be maintained when the hour hand is adjusted independently. Assembled by hand, every 9F movement features a backlash auto-adjust mechanism that eliminates any shudder in the seconds hand, instantaneous date change, and a twin-pulse control system that allows the minute and seconds hands to extend up to the edge of the dial. Every detail at its core is meticulously sculptured for the best definitiveness of time, as well as precision which only Caliber 9F86 could deliver.
The night and day hours indicated by the GMT hand of matching color can also be read instantly on the spot due to the two-tone dial ring. While the use of two colors of LumiBrite (green for the hour hand, minute hand, and indexes including blue for the GMT hand) sets the seal on the legibility at night. The ceramic scratch-free bezel also enables the time to be read at a stroke without any error in the GMT 24-hour format.
Being claimed as the world’s highest performance quartz watch, the Caliber 9F86 has been made idyllic for any occasion, thanks to its superb specifications which include instant date change, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 20-bar water resistance, and magnetic resistance of 16,000 A/m.
The stainless-steel case is simple in design but, with its muscular shape and sharp, Zaratsu polished surfaces, it presents a powerful sports aspect. The dial has gold color details and it is offered as a limited edition of 2,021 to mark the 140th anniversary of Seiko’s foundation. The caseback features the Grand Seiko lion emblem and the watch is paired with a three-link steel bracelet.

The new model is available in three colors—gold, red and blue. Only 2,021 limited-edition, gold-chromatic dials will be sold while red and blue accents are to join the main Grand Seiko collection.
