Founded in 1906 by a Hamburg financier, a salesman, and a Berlin engineer, Montblanc began as a maker of pens—products that, at the time, were not only high-end but high-tech, responding to a new era of travel and communication. The brand expanded into watches, leather goods, and other tools that adapted to a luxury market increasingly “on the go,” enabled by industrial growth and globalized networks of trade. The signature “Meisterstuck” line of writing instruments debuted in the 1920s, and that is the era to which the brand returns for inspiration in the creation of Montblanc’s latest emblem that is set to become a Montblanc design signature.
Since its launch in 2020, the Montblanc M_Gram 4810 has quickly established itself as a leather collection with its original all-over logo treatment. The collection now sees the arrival of new multi-functional medium and small leather pieces that can be worn in different ways—around the neck, cross body, carried by hand, on the belt, alone, or even mixed with other pieces. The assortment has also been enriched with a selection of new pieces that stand out in a bright all-blue combination for those looking to make an even bolder statement.
The two-tone M pattern has been inspired by the geometry and lettering of graphics from the Montblanc archives, underscoring the richness of the Maison’s heritage. The bold and pointed shape of the letter with its geometric look captures the Art Deco style of the 1920s, one of the most important periods for the brand. Resistant to scratches and everyday wear, the PVC coated canvas is paired with black leather trimming details. Ideal for urban adventures, these products are made to be constantly reimagined, depending on how they are worn by their owner. By simply adding a shoulder strap, available both in leather and in webbing, wrist handle or necklace, the leather piece can be worn completely differently and have different uses. In addition to the multi-wearable attributes of the new pieces and the new shapes, the collection offers a brand-new color combination which is a bold two-tone blue variation of the all-logo pattern.
The collection with its new pattern reenergizes archival graphics for a 2021 monogram true to the brand’s history and message but designed to apply to the future of tools of messaging and movement. True to Montblanc’s technology-oriented tradition, its latest smartwatch and audio accessories have received the M_Gram 4810 treatment alongside backpacks, document carriers, and variously sized bags, from pouches to totes.
