When Montblanc launched its new brand campaign What Moves You, Makes You last year, it set out to inspire people to express their full potential by doing what truly moves them, rather than following a more conventional path to success. It did so by telling the extraordinary stories of ‘Mark Makers‘ or individuals living their life doing what inspires them the most and leaving their mark along the way.
This year, Montblanc celebrates the modern woman with the introduction of exquisitely made ladies watches that could be described as a female interpretation of Maison’s tenacious spirit, celebrating the boldness, creativity, and magnificence—the Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 34mm and Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88. Both timepieces are featured alongside the introduction of its newest Mark Maker. The latest member of the Montblanc household is none apart from Chinese actress Xin Zhilei. Together with her fascinating performances in movies and TV series corresponding to Crosscurrent and Brotherhood of Blades II and Candle within the Tomb, Xin has captured the hearts of audiences throughout China and is changing into a fast-rising icon in the world of style.
As Montblanc’s CEO, Nicolas Baretzki remarks, “Xin is the embodiment of the Montblanc lady—highly effective, decided and assured. I’m sure that Xin’s values will resonate properly with our prospects, and people rewriting the codes of success for the twenty-first century. We are excited to welcome Xin Zhilei as our newest Mark Maker for Montblanc; along with our ambassador Chen Kun, she will express our campaign message of What Moves You, Makes You—inspiring people to seek success on their terms, driven by what truly moves them in life.“
The Bohème assortment has been Montblanc’s flagship line of ladies timepieces since its introduction in 2014, discovering their approach onto the wrists of highly effective and influential women. This year marks the launch of two new timepieces from this range. First is the Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 34mm. The silvery-white dial of this watch is crafted with traditional decorative techniques, such as guilloché and gem-setting, and includes leaf-shaped hands, minute scales with raised dots, and an internal hour ring. The timepiece reveals finishes that are further accentuated by a strong design with applied floral Arabic numerals, eight large diamond indexes, and blue date numerals, all of which provide elegance and legibility. Furthermore, the Day & Night complication features a geometrical pattern inspired by the Art Déco style.
This timepiece has a polished case with slightly curved, faceted horns and a sculpted onion crown with a mother-of-pearl insert that reproduces the shape of the Montblanc emblem. Completing the overall design is the blue calf strap with large alligator-style scales and an interchangeable strap mechanism, allowing the wearer to easily change styles. This watch is available with a stainless steel bracelet or in a bi-color version with an 18K rose gold bezel set with 72 Top Wesselton diamonds.
Launching in a limited edition of just 88 pieces the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 is a feminine interpretation of the codes of fine watchmaking. The timepiece comes in a new Aventurine glass dial and a bezel set with diamonds. Aventurine comes from “adventure” and “chance” and was first produced in Murano, Venice in the 15th century. It was invented by the Italian glassmakers of the day who blended tiny particles of copper into batches of molten glass, resulting in this deep blue sparkling glass.
Powered by the manufacture movement caliber MB 29.22, it features a patented Perpetual Calendar mechanism that indicates the day, date, month, leap year, and a second time zone from the center combined with a 24-hour display and a Day & Night at 9 o’clock. It is one of the most readable perpetual calendars with well-positioned indications and the possibility of setting the time both forwards and backward through the crown, which allows the rapid adjustment of one month in under a minute. The watch offers a beautiful view on a realistic domed moon phase surrounded by a starry sky which is extremely precise and only requires adjustment every 122 years. To complete the overall design, the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 is fitted with a blue alligator strap featuring an 18 K white gold pin buckle set with a diamond.
