AirAsia Philippines takes center stage in Manila today, May 10th, 2024, to celebrate the invaluable contributions of its loyal travel agency partners, affectionately known as the “Redstars.” This recognition comes in the form of the upcoming 7th Redstar Awards, a ceremony specifically designed to honor the Redstars’ pivotal role in reviving and sustaining the travel and tourism industry, particularly during the challenging years of the pandemic when air travel faced significant limitations.

The 15th of May marks the date for the prestigious 7th Redstar Awards, hosted by the AirAsia Philippines Sales and Distribution team. AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla emphasizes the collaborative spirit that has kept the travel and tourism industry afloat: “Keeping the travel and tourism industry alive for the past three years is a collaborative effort by airline companies and travel agencies. We deeply acknowledge their great contribution in cascading our programs and helping rebuild travel confidence.”

The Redstar Awards serve as a platform to recognize outstanding achievements within the travel agency network. Specifically, the awards celebrate agencies who, in 2023, demonstrably boosted AirAsia’s flight sales revenue. Their contributions extended beyond flights, encompassing ancillary products like meals, additional baggage allowances, preferred seating options, and programs like the Fast Pass.

AirAsia is heartened by the positive booking trends witnessed so far in 2024. As of May, bookings have already reached a remarkable 45% of the total 6.6 million seats sold in 2023. AirAsia credits this significant increase to the combined efforts of the Redstars alongside their online booking platforms, AirAsia MOVE, and the official website airasia.com. This collaborative approach positions AirAsia for a strong year ahead and highlights the vital role that travel agencies continue to play in the travel industry’s ongoing recovery.
