Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s K-Wave Zone is a must-see attraction for K-pop and K-drama fans. Hallyu superstar Hyun Bin, a South Korean actor with a two-decade career, will perform in the glamorous halls. Bin gained fame in 2019 for his role in Crash Landing on You, a high-rated show on Korean cable TV. His portrayal of Ri Jeong-hook won him several awards, including the Baeksang Arts Awards for Most Popular Actor and the Grand Prize at the APAN Star Awards.
Although Hyun Bin is well known for changing his look to match his roles, his likeness portrays him in his natural state, looking dashing in a sophisticated grey suit. With his right hand tucked in his pocket, Hyun Bin’s figure exudes every bit of the gentleman he is in real life. The waxwork is placed in a street scene resembling Myeongdeong as an added treat for fans. When they approach the figure, they hear the actor’s heartbeat getting louder, as if meeting him in a romantically charged K-drama scene.
To celebrate the unveiling of Hyun Bin’s wax figure, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has also launched a giveaway contest that fans will enjoy. Visitors are encouraged to reenact their K-drama moment with Hyun Bin’s wax figure and share the video on their social media pages. The winning participants will be rewarded with round-trip tickets to South Korea, sponsored by Hong Kong Airlines.
The Korean experience doesn’t stop there because Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has teamed up with the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong for one year to offer K-fans a truly immersive visit. They kickstarted the partnership with the “Hanbok Experience” this September, wherein guests get to choose a Hanbok to wear as they take unforgettable photos with the figures of their favorite Korean idols and actors, including Hyun Bin.
“As the world’s largest collection of Korean celebrity wax figures, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has always tried to embrace the growing popularity of Korean pop culture and enhance our position as a must-visit destination for K-Pop fans and cultural enthusiasts,” said Wade Chang, General Manager of Merlin Entertainments Hong Kong. “Through the partnership with the Korean Cultural Center, we will now also be able to bring more ever-evolving and trendy elements to visitors and elevate their overall experience.”
The collaboration promises exciting activities and events in the coming months that aim to transport every visitor to the heart of Korean culture.
Hyun Bin’s wax figure is now available for interactive viewing at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s K-Wave Zone. While at it, fans can pose with other Korean stars, including Si-won Choi, Kim Soo-Hyun, Lee Jong-Suk, Suzy Bae, and Yim Siwan.
