OPPO has established the OPPO AI Center and released the OPPO AI Smartphone White Paper, marking a new era in smartphone development and implementation. The Hybrid Vision Sensing technology featuring AI Motion is set to deliver breakthroughs in image deblurring and high frame rate slow motion video on mobile phones. OPPO devices, including the OPPO Find X7 Ultra, and innovative features like the new AI Eraser are also being showcased at the event.
At this year’s MWC, OPPO has collaborated with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and startup AlpsenTek to introduce a new AI Motion algorithm based on Hybrid Vision Sensing (HVS) technology, bringing added clarity to photography and videography of high-speed moving objects. Further to this, OPPO is showcasing a range of products with partners, including Google, Qualcomm Technologies, and MediaTek, and has announced that OPPO smartphone users will soon be able to connect their phones to Microsoft Copilot. reflecting OPPO’s commitment to exploring enhanced technological experiences in collaboration with partners across the industry.
Multimodal AI technology can interpret complex user scenarios, unlocking new potential in voice and visual interactions. OPPO has introduced the OPPO Air Glass 3 prototype, a prototype that explores AI technology through cross-device collaboration between XR devices and smartphones. The OPPO Air Glass 3 weighs 50 grams and features a self-developed resin waveguide with a refractive index of 1.70, display brightness uniformity of over 50%, and peak eye brightness of over 1,000 nits. It provides a wearing experience similar to a regular pair of glasses and offers the best full-color display of its kind. Users can activate the AI voice assistant by lightly pressing the temple of the OPPO Air Glass 3 using the Air Glass APP on their smartphone. The glasses also support touch interaction for functions like music playback, voice calls, information display, and color image browsing. They also feature reverse sound field technology, an open acoustic design with four microphones, and innovations that improve noise isolation for high audio quality and enhanced privacy protection.
OPPO is focusing on AI as a core area of investment and development, establishing the OPPO AI Center to focus resources on R&D and user-centric exploration. The company plans to equip the OPPO Reno11 Series and OPPO Find N3 with generative AI features, including OPPO AI Eraser, in Q2 2024. OPPO plans to integrate generative AI features into more products, including the next generation of the Reno series, to provide a smarter, more convenient lifestyle. As of December 31, 2023, OPPO has filed over 3,160 global patents related to AI. The company recently released the AI Smartphone White Paper, predicting that AI smartphones will replace traditional smartphones and trigger a new revolution in the mobile phone industry. This will lead to upgrades and expansions, creating a new AI Smartphone ecosystem encompassing computing resources, function modules, native AI services, LLM, and AI agents.
OPPO is partnering with AlpsenTek and Qualcomm Technologies at MWC to showcase their Hybrid Vision Sensing technologies, including the new AI Motion algorithm. AI Motion, developed under OPPO’s lead, can perform image deblurring and high frame rate image interpolation for high-speed cameras using traditional RBG image data and event vision sensing (EVS) motion data. This technology enables smartphones to capture true 960fps slow-motion videos in 4K resolution, addressing image and photo blur. The integration of EVS data for precise object alignment between frames enhances dynamic range and resolution, opening up new possibilities in image and video capture, thereby enhancing the potential for creative content creation.
OPPO has introduced its first self-trained generative AI model, AndesGPT, at OPPO ODC 2023, which includes dialogue enhancement, personalization, and cloud-device collaboration. The company also introduced a new AI Eraser feature on the OPPO Find X7 Series, showcasing its impressive effects and powerful imaging performance at Qualcomm Technologies’ booth and MediaTek’s booth. OPPO’s innovative products, including the OPPO Find X7 Ultra and the Find N3 series, are also being showcased at Google’s Android Partner Walk. OPPO and Microsoft announced a partnership to explore AI technology to enhance user experience on different devices. Users can use Copilot to generate content, translate text messages, and search addresses on their smartphones via a connected PC through Microsoft Link to Windows and a new plugin.
OPPO is introducing six startup teams at the OPPO Inspiration Zone at MWC 4YFN, showcasing their cutting-edge AI technologies. These include contactless health monitoring, an intelligent diagnosis system for heart and lung auscultation, and an AR game. OPPO’s mission is “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World,” and they plan to continue investing in AI development and application, working with partners worldwide to introduce industry-leading products and services that enhance mobile experiences and create a more open global technology ecosystem.
