In an effort to bring the entrepreneur and aspiring entrepreneur community of University of Santo Tomas together, as well as to foster the spirit of innovative ventures, the UST Artlet Student Council hosted a two part series highlighting notable entrepreneurs in the local scene entitled ABANTE LOKAL. While the first part of this series focuses on UST’s Faculty of Arts and Letters’ very own student-entrepreneurs, the second part entitled, “ABusiness Elevation Webinar” features two great speakers who are well-renowned figures in the Entrepreneurship industry.

Introducing Mr. Jeremiah Paul Morales (President & COO of Choco Monkey, President & CEO of Rite Tea) and Mr. Armand Bengco (Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Advocate, DTI Mentor Me -Mentor, GoNegosyo Angelpreneur)! While Mr. Morales brings the audience to his lifelong journey of learnings in the success and failures of his ventures, Mr. Bengco showers each and every aspirant with tips and practical lessons that each student should keep in mind if they want to not only succeed in terms of business, but also achieve financial stability and freedom.

Despite the fact that the tones of the two speakers differ, the main message that they send across converges the same: staying in your comfort zone is the worst thing you can do, if you want true success. Due to the inflation that has been plaguing the entire world since time immemorial, keeping your money under your mattress is never the answer, instead, it would be ideal if each individual, especially when they are young, takes the risk of getting it wrong in order to win life’s game.

Some notable moments in this webinar features a performance by the UST’s Chorus of Arts and Letters who sang “Maghihitay Sayo,” Mr. Morales’ inspiring story of how despite the disappointments he has faced he was able to bounce back, Mr. Bengco’s differentiation of money, income, wealth, as well as his emphasis on the importance of investing.

Finally the webinar ended with Mr.Bengco’s quote, “The one who is wealthy is not one who has the most, but the one that needs the least.”— who was then presented a certification of appreciation alongside Mr.Morales for their contributions to the series. After which the president of the Artlet Student Council gave his ending acknowledgement. This wrapped up the student wide highly anticipated program, “ABANTE LOKAL.”
