Sintang Dalisay, a critically acclaimed Filipino adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” is set to close its final week of performances at the Hyundai Hall, Areté, Ateneo, on July 20, 2024. The 46th season, themed “The Ricardo Abad Season,” tells the story of Rashiddin and Jamila, two lovers from feuding families, who must navigate their love amidst a long-standing conflict in an imaginary Muslim community. The show has mesmerized audiences since its first run in July 2011.

Director Guelan Luarca shares his excitement about the play’s impact: “We wanted to create a production that tells a beautiful love story and celebrates our Filipino heritage. The response from the audience has been overwhelming, and we are thrilled to see how ‘Sintang Dalisay’ has resonated with so many people.”
