The first Virtual Metro Community Bazaar (VMCB), the online collective shop- for-a-cause project of Metro Retail Stores Groups Inc. (MRSGI), has garnered a Merit Award in the 18th Philippine Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication.
The notable citation recognizes the initiative of MRSGI and its partner, Vicsal Foundation Inc. (VFI) to conduct programs for the welfare of small businesses and their communities. The virtual format demonstrated MRSGI’s resolve to continue its CSR programs with its retail partners amidst the pandemic restrictions.
With the theme “We Rise as One Metro Family”, the VMCB was launched in celebration of Corporate Social Responsibility Month in July 2020. It featured dynamic food selections and sustainable lifestyle merchandise from select social enterprise brands, along with fun learning activities such as skills and entrepreneurship training conducted by MRSGI’s CSR partners.
“Family is at the core of everything we do at Metro, and the current health situation has shown us how strong this familial foundation is. We are grateful for our Metro family, because they ensure that our local communities receive support during these challenging times,” MRSGI Chairman and CEO Frank Gaisano said.
