The ASICS META: Time: Trials 2024 event in Bangkok, Thailand, celebrated its 3rd anniversary. Philippine athletes Sonny Wagdos and Richard Salaño secured a one-two finish for Team Philippines, topping the Invitational Category. Arlan Arbois finished in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish. Joida Gagnao finished seventh in the women’s category. The Philippines team had a strong presence in the open category, with ASICS Running Club coaches Precious Que-Aguilar and Jasper Tanhueco participating.
After capturing the elusive top spot, Wagdos shared a few words of encouragement on his fantastic victory, “Kung pagod ka, pagod na din sila kaya isipin mo nalang na pareho kayong pagod.” (If you are feeling tired already, your opponents are tired too so have that perspective that both of you are tired already).
Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados, News5 news anchor and sports commentator Andrei Felix, and actor Gab Lagman represented the Philippines in this remarkable run in Thailand.
From the other Southeast Asian countries, there were 41 ASICS racing in the ASICS flagship METASPEED™ Series – METASPEED™ SKY PARIS and METASPEED™ EDGE PARIS. More than 3,000 general participants joined them for the event at the Suphachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok. Certified by the Athletics Association of Thailand, this race saw all runners being challenged with a 10-kilometer distance where they could set a new PB record for themselves and enjoy the thrilling race atmosphere and exciting activities lined up at the race village.
Gabriel Yap, Regional Senior Marketing Director of ASICS Asia Pte Ltd., said, “Today, we have seen the high energy and dedication of all runners across the region. They came together to express their determination to push their limits while having a great time in this joyful atmosphere. This community of runners always offers fun and unity and how they are allowed to celebrate the power of exercise on the body and mind. I would like to congratulate all runners and thank you for being a part of this year’s race.”
The ASICS META: Time: Trials event is a symbol of success and commitment for ASICS to fully support everyone to experience the benefits of exercise for our bodies and minds, as well as expressing the brand’s intention to design and develop running shoes with quality and meet all the needs of runners so that they can unleash their potential, reach the finish line, and conquer new PB together.
