A Fundraiser and a tribute to a Filipino fashion legend
In recent weeks, and just before Christmas, so much has happened including the unfortunate passing of a disastrous storm through the Visayan region. With multiple provinces hit and gravely affected by typhoon Odette/Rai, help came immediately from all around, and yet there are still so many in more remote areas that are in dire need of rebuilding.
In the tradition of fashion legend Ben Farrales who spearheaded fundraisers for various causes almost regularly under the project title “Fashion for a Cause,” the Fashion Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP) headed by its president JC Buendia and the Philippine Fashion Coalition (PFC) headed by Jackie Aquino, in partnership with the Ayala Foundation Inc. worked quickly through the holidays to put together “Babangon Tayo, Filipino Fashion for a Cause.” This effort tapped multiple designers to donate their beautiful, Filipino-made pieces to an online shopping event that will run for the next few weeks.
From this entire collection, 100% of the sales generated shall be donated to raise funds for the efforts of the Ayala Foundation in places such as Dinagat Island and Siargao. Therefore, you can shop and know that it is a guiltless purchase as it is 100% donated to a worthy cause.
For its first collection, fifteen designers and Filipino brands have pledged to donate their pieces namely ACMS, Adante Leyesa, Ann Casas, Aranaz, Beatriz, Earl Gariando, Jasmin Jewellery, Jhaz Footwear, JC Buendia, Jo-Ann Bitagcol, Jor-el Espina, MJorian, Pablo Cabahug, and Rajo Laurel.
In the coming weeks, more brands and designers will be joining and contributing their prized items.
