King Seiko, a renowned watch brand known for its precision and beautiful designs, is releasing a new series of dress watches inspired by a vintage design from 1969.

The new series is powered by Seiko’s automatic Caliber 6L35, known for its slim profile. The design itself draws inspiration from the King Seiko 45KCM of 1969. The characteristic curved silhouette of the original watch is reimagined for modern tastes, featuring a multi-row bracelet with a combination of mirror polishing and brushed finish for a subtle shine.

Thanks to modern manufacturing techniques and the slim Caliber 6L35 movement, the new watches achieve a comfortable 9.9mm thickness. The latest bracelet, with shorter links, further contributes to comfortable wristwear. A unique detail on the dial at noon is a multi-faceted index designed with a pattern resembling the fletching of an arrow, a nod to traditional Japanese archery.

The new series comes in three dial options: silver, purple, and green. The silver dial features a texture reminiscent of Tokyo’s modern cityscape. The purple dial references a traditional Japanese color called “Edo purple,” while the green dial evokes the natural greenery that has been a part of the city for centuries. The texture of both the purple and green dials is reminiscent of traditional Japanese washi paper.

These three core models will be part of the primary King Seiko collection and will be available from July 2024 at Seiko Boutiques and select retailers worldwide.

In celebration of Seiko’s 100th anniversary in 2024, a limited edition watch is also being introduced. This commemorative timepiece features a light blue-green dial with a textured pattern inspired by the scales of a rising dragon, a symbol of prosperity in Japanese culture. The dragon also represents the year 2024 in the Japanese zodiac.

This limited edition watch shares the exact specifications as the core models but boasts a unique dial design. Only 700 pieces will be available worldwide starting July 2024 at select Seiko Boutiques and retailers.
