Trunc shares the stories of three stylish moms from three different generations who continue to inspire positivity as they navigate through life’s journey. Sofia Andres, Kelly Misa, and Tessa Valdes share their top fashion must-haves that are, at the same time, confidence-boosters and motivational pieces to conquer each day, as well as the people who influenced them greatly into becoming the women that they are today.
SOFIA ANDRES
In her 20s, Sofia has already accomplished what many young girls dream of—a successful acting career, a YouTube channel with hundred-thousands of subscribers, a vibrant network of friends and supporters, and a loving family of her own.
With so many outfit goals seen on her social media, Sofia shares her style essentials that make her most confident. “White or black high-waist pants, a denim jacket, linens, or anything soft and comfy because I’m always on the go. I also put on sneakers. I love a good pair of sneakers! I think confidence starts when you feel comfortable outside and inside,” Sofia shares.
The woman that she is now, to Sofia, it is her mom who stands as her life inspiration. “I have always been inspired on how she conquers everything. We have been through a lot especially when I was just a commercial model. We started from scratch. Everything I am is because of her. I will always, always love her and look up to her…and her recipes. Haha!”

KELLY MISA
In her late 30s, Kelly Misa is considered as one of the most recognizable faces in entertainment since the beginning of her career in the early 2000s. She is currently a host, lifestyle blogger, model, endorser, wife, and mother.
One can never go wrong with flattering jeans, comfortable footwear that still gives off a stylish overall look, and a blazer which is the hardest-working out of all pieces in one’s wardrobe–just like Kelly’s fashion preferences!
“My top three fashion must-haves that inspire, motivate, and bring me confidence are: first, a pair of great fitting jeans. There’s nothing like a pair of denim that fits amazingly—it really makes me feel confident and stylish, and the best part is I can wear it with pretty much anything in my closet. Dressed up or down, jeans are my go to article of clothing when I want to feel motivated to look and feel good. The second is a pair of comfortable and stylish shoes. I have a few of these in my collection, and they range from sandals to loafers, and even mid heels, block heels, and stilettos. It is hard to choose just one to be honest, because I love shoes so much. One requirement when purchasing a pair of shoes though is it has to be super soft and comfortable. I no longer buy shoes just for style, it has to also provide comfort because there is nothing sexier than wearing gorgeously stylish but incredibly comfortable shoes,” says Kelly.
“Lastly, my third fashion must-have is a beautiful blazer. Power dressing is real—it is definitely a confidence booster and the blazer is a must have in any girl’s closet. It lends a polished look that can be worn in a multitude of ways. Black is a staple, but looking into beige, white, and even pastels and brights can look so good as well,” she adds.

Same with most of us, there is always a set of people who we look up to and think about how they inspired us in life. For Kelly, it’s her grandmother, Rosalina Galvez, and her mother, Rosemarie Misa. “I have always known my Lola to be stylish, put together, and pristine. Growing up, I watched her get dressed and she always chose timeless classic silhouettes that stand the test of time. I am still very much inspired by her way of dressing and I love how I am able to wear old and new pieces together. My mother is definitely an inspiration because of her ageless beauty. She has always looked younger than her age and I attribute my looks to her. Both of them inspire me so much to take care of myself and dress well.”

TESSA PRIETO VALDES
In her late 50s, Tessa Prieto Valdes holds a thick book of credentials: she is a socialite, writer, interior designer, and philanthropist who has hosted various events and charity programs. Known for her bubbly personality and colorful outfits, she is a true style icon.
“My first top fashion must have is a dress with any interesting, bold and loud print so I feel the statement piece beaming with confidence. Second is a great pair of heels in any unique color or shade—something that is hard to match so there is a sense of edginess in my style! The third is accessories. For me, these add the finishing touches to any outfit and is my unique style,” muses Tessa.
On the biggest influence in her life: “It is my mother, Marixi Prieto. In a generation that was predominantly housewives and stay at home mothers, my mother was already a business executive ever since I can remember! Back then and now, she is driven, passionate about work, and is the most charitable person I know. She is strict but fair, always there for business advice and/or marital support, and a true example of a devoted and patient wife and a nurturing mother. If I could be half as disciplined and half as successful as she has been, I would have achieved so much already. She thought me that the legacy we leave behind is equally important as the life we live so we should always live it well, right, and share blessings whenever possible! She is my idol—a truly empowered woman.”
