The race is on! Global apparel retailer Uniqlo is now accepting entries for the UT Grand Prix 2021 T-shirt design competition. And the theme for this year’s contest is Peanuts, the comic strip first published in the U.S. in the 1950s, marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of its creator, Charles M. Schulz.
To promote creativity and talent, Uniqlo has been running its UT Grand Prix design competition since 2005 by using the basic T-shirt as a blank canvas for anyone to freely express their ideas through graphic design. The competition is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Previous competition themes include Star Wars, Marvel, Nintendo, and Pokemon and have attracted numerous entries, selling winning designs all over the world.
This year’s grand prize winner will receive US$20,000. Grand prize and second prize winners will also be invited for an internship at Charles M. Schultz Creative Associates. Winning designs will be featured in Uniqlo’s 2022 Spring/Summer collections and will be sold at all Uniqlo stores worldwide. Representatives from the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates will be the panel of judges for this year. The contest runs until August 31, 2021.
