Global apparel giant Uniqlo and outdoor and utilitarian clothing brand White Mountaineering will be joining forces to release an outerwear collection for the Autumn 2021 season.
The theme behind the upcoming collaboration came to White Mountaineering founder Yosuke Aizawa when he discovered the stress-free feeling of wearing Uniqlo LifeWear which suits a purpose and importance to our daily wear-to-wear. White Mountaineering has collaborated with other brands in the past which includes Adidas and Millet, but this is the first time the label will be working with a name like Uniqlo to make functional and technical outerwear more accessible to consumers.
Two pieces from the collection that have been previewed are the Hybrid Down Oversized Parka and Ultra Light Down Oversized Jacket which Aizawa has re-imagined intending to create a “common language” between parents and their children allowing a uniform to be adopted that combines the simplicity of LifeWear and the functionality of White Mountaineering.
The Hybrid Down Parka features several pockets on the front with two waterproof zippers on the chest, a two-way zipper, and velcro-adjusted cuffs. Rounding off the collection is the Ultra Light Jacket which is cut to the style of a military liner with quilting all-over, button-closure for the main placket, and two waist pockets.
