For the past two years, these little kids have grown in a completely different setup where the beauty of the world is only within reach through gadget screens.
With a freer world within grasp, children will get to experience how Christmases are supposed to be: celebrations are brighter, bigger, but most of all, closer together. In McDonald’s newest online video, they show a young girl as she experiences the firsts of a Pinoy Christmas—from Christmas karaoke to traveling and finally reuniting with family.
The relationship of the lola and the kid represents how all of us, especially little ones, experienced adjustments and reservations as restrictions were slowly lifted. The Christmas that Filipinos were used to seemed so foreign to her—bright lights, loud streets, and even the warmth of her lola. But as soon as her lola offered her a Happy Meal just as how her lola would always do during their video calls, the little girl started to get more comfortable. She loosened up and got more excited—signaling her initiation to the Christmas family traditions we always knew and loved.
