Headed up (among others) by West Australian event and venue operator Aeson McKay, MESA brings together his appreciation for underground music, flavoursome food, delicious drinks, cool vibes, and late-night dancing. Making the move late last year on a whim, Aeson had this to say: “Like most Aussies, I have a huge soft spot for Bali after visiting for many years so when I moved over last year and approached to join the project, I couldn’t pass it up! We’ve got a really strong team consisting of locals and expats, and we can’t wait to bring this amazing space to life.”
The great progression of Bali hotspots has seen movement from Kuta to Seminyak and in more recent years, Canggu with world class venues attracting tourism from across the globe. The vibrant hospitality scene is no doubt one of the main attractions for travellers, however Aeson and his team have noticed a gap in the market.
“When you’re on holiday you tend to go ‘full speed’, fancy dinners, crazy nightclubs etc. but living here you do sense a lack of somewhere that sits a bit more in between. MESA will take you right from lunch time tacos and sunset cocktails on the rooftop, to a 4am dance floor with local and international DJs.”
Featuring a world class sound system, the venue starts on the first floor above street level with a restaurant and late night disco, but for those who take pleasure in more leisurely activities, MESA also features one of the only rooftop bars in the area with unparalleled views over Canggu and the beach as well a huge cocktail and ModernMex menu… Did we mention there’s a pool?
