FWD Life Insurance Corporation (FWD Philippines) has launched Pinoy Money Master, a unique online game show that teaches viewers how to handle finances in an entertaining manner. The first of its kind in the Philippines, it aims to change people’s perception of insurance by providing an accessible platform for financial education.
The World Bank reports that in 2022, only 25% of adult Filipinos have sufficient financial literacy. In the same year, less than 2% of the population availed insurance which is one of the lowest rates in Southeast Asia. Beforehand, a 2019 Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Financial Inclusion survey also showed that 41% of Filipinos can answer only 1 of 3 financial literacy questions correctly, and a meager 8% can answer all three.
“Everyone should have access to financial skills and knowledge and be the masters of their own money. The world of finance is continuously evolving and we want Filipinos, especially the next generation, to succeed building their wealth and financial freedom,” shares FWD Philippines President and CEO Manuel “Jumbing” De Rosas.
“Pera wiser, para happier” is the main takeaway as the gameshow aims to teach Filipinos that a sustainable financial future is always within reach, which gives more room to celebrate living. Through Pinoy Money Master, FWD Philippines aims to demystify money and make financial literacy relatable, fun, and innovative through digital content rooted in Filipino pop culture.
The game show is a battle of the generations—where Gen Zs, Millennials, and Gen Xers outwit and outmatch each other to claim up to PhP100,000, life insurance, and the bragging rights to be dubbed as the Pinoy Money Master. The first three episodes feature social media influencers like Inka Magnaye, Stanley Chi, and Nicko Sia, who team up with a group of Filipino contestants to see which of the three generations reign supreme.
Livestreamed via FWD’s Facebook page, viewers can also participate and win special prizes from each episode, including cash, smart watches, and vouchers for shopping and travel. Just by liking the episode, commenting answers to the game questions, and sharing the video livestream, one can be qualified to win a post-show raffle for PhP25,000.
FWD Philippines Chief Marketing & Digital Business Officer Roche Vandenberghe shares how FWD hopes the gameshow will drive more people to gain more financial know-hows. “With the Filipinos’ love for amusing gameshows, Pinoy Money Master is set to provide fun and positive entertainment while promoting financial literacy in a more engaging way,” said Roche.
The pilot episode of Pinoy Money Master is now available for streaming on FWD’s Facebook page. Stay tuned for an upcoming episode on September 27.
