Despite limited mobility due to the pandemic, many Filipinos found ingenious ways to extend help to the victims of super Typhoon Odette. Local musicians are holding online fundraiser gigs, some K-pop fans are raffling off fan merch while others volunteer their time to pack relief goods. On Carousell, the leading online classifieds marketplace in the Philippines, a number of sellers have initiated a donation drive by selling secondhand items and donating the proceeds to families and communities that were heavily affected by Typhoon Odette.
For Carousell users who want to help the typhoon victims, all they just have to do is log on to Carousell and search “For Typhoon Odette victims” to find items and sellers who are donating to the affected areas ravaged by Typhoon Odette. Available products range from apparel, footwear, eyewear, skincare products, toys, to gadgets, and more.
Online seller Lara (user @laraadvincula) for instance, found a way to raise money to support Typhoon Odette victims by selling branded pre-loved apparel like cardigans, blouses, sport shorts, and makeup products.
Another online seller Mikol (user @kaelatyourservice69) is also selling branded rubber shoes at discounted prices and donating the proceeds to help residents in areas that were massively devastated by Typhoon Odette. Kitchen tools and essentials, along with home decors and accessories are being sold by @shopgood_mnl and will be donating the proceeds to ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya’s Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-ahon Operation Odette. Meanwhile, aside from donating the proceeds from selling branded pre-owned fashion items, online seller April (user @pringpotato) is also organizing relief efforts to distribute supplies and in-kind donations for the typhoon victims.
Knowing how hard it is to face the damage caused by natural disasters during Typhoon Yolanda, online seller Julya (user @momjuls) is also selling her pre-loved accessories and jewelry and will be donating the funds to affected areas in the VisMin region. Online seller Gab (user @cartseven) also appeals to bookworms and K-Pop fans and is selling some pre-loved books, photo cards and album sets by the K-Pop group BTS, for the benefit of Typhoon Odette victims.
“Carousell encourages every Filipino to support and take part in this humble initiative fueled by our bayanihan spirit,” said Ralph Garcia, Country Marketing Head, Carousell Philippines. “This initiative gives Filipinos the opportunity to share their blessings and help typhoon victims, without having to risk their own health and safety, while limiting the need for physical contact and transactions.” For more information, visit www.carousell.ph to buy or sell pre-loved items and donate to our kababayans in the VisMin region whose lives and homes have been heavily affected by the typhoon.
