Shake Shack introduces first-ever Dark Meat Menu item
It’s getting hot in Manila with the debut of Dark Meat Hot Chicken (P310) in the Manila Shacks on July 21. The Hot Chicken is a fan favorite in the U.S. where it has run as a limited-time offer in 2017, 2018, and 2020. The spicy sandwich was updated for Asia using a premium chicken thigh, and this is the first time in Shake Shack‘s history to serve dark meat chicken.
The Hot Chicken is crafted from an all-natural cage-free dark meat chicken thigh slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour, and crisp-fried. The chicken is dusted with a hot pepper blend and topped with Louisiana hot sauce slaw, and kosher dill pickles, and served on a pillowy potato bun.
“We have been developing a dark meat chicken sandwich since we opened in Asia,” said Shake Shack Culinary Director Mark Rosati. “We couldn’t be more excited to debut our first dark meat item ever with the launch of Dark Meat Hot Chicken in Manila and create Inspired Food & Drink for our fans in Asia.”
Shake Shack first introduced chicken to the U.S. menu in 2015 with the Chicken Shack, a crispy all-natural chicken breast sandwich with shredded lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo. The Dark Meat Hot Chicken is an innovation of the chicken menu and furthers Shake Shack’s commitment to serving fresh, simple, high-quality food at a great value through its mission to ‘stand for something good.’
