Renowned business leader and philanthropist returns to Manila for an inspiring memoir launch at Fully Booked, BGC.

Last March 6, 2025, I had the honor of meeting Loida Nicolas Lewis for her upcoming book signing this coming March 16 (almost a year apart when I first met her in Rome, Italy!) Meeting Tita Loida felt like reconnecting with a long-lost friend. She embodies the essence of womanhood—caring, nurturing, and fiercely supportive. As a mother, a friend, and a sister, she extends her heart and hand to those in need. In my own journey, I have faced numerous challenges, often paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes and the judgment of others. However, my encounter with Tita Loida was like receiving a warm embrace from a mother. She reassured me that fear should not hold me back; instead, I should pursue my dreams relentlessly and embrace the lessons that come with mistakes.

Loida’s impressive portfolio speaks volumes about her dedication and resilience. As the first Filipina and Asian woman to pass the New York bar without studying law in the U.S., she has paved the way for many. Her leadership of TLC Beatrice International and her advocacy work through the Reginald F. Lewis Foundation highlight her commitment to education and empowerment. She is not just a figure to celebrate during Women’s Month but a daily inspiration.
Thank you, Tita Loida, for your time and wisdom. I will carry your words in my heart as I strive to make my dreams a reality.

A Special Homecoming for Women’s History Month

Loida Nicolas Lewis will be in Manila to celebrate Women’s History Month and launch her memoir, Why Should Guys Have All the Fun? An Asian American Story of Love, Marriage, Motherhood, and Running a Billion-Dollar Empire. The event will be held at The Studio, located on the third floor of Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with Mrs. Lewis through a book signing and an intimate fireside chat, moderated by award-winning broadcast journalist Ms. Karen Davila. The event is open to the public, with registration required.

A lawyer, businesswoman, philanthropist, and activist, Loida Lewis has spent decades breaking barriers and championing causes that uplift women and underrepresented communities. Her memoir, co-written by Blair S. Walker and published by WILEY, offers a deeply personal and compelling narrative of her life—from her early years in Sorsogon, her journey to the United States, and her role as the driving force behind a billion-dollar empire following the passing of her husband, Reginald F. Lewis.

Since its release in 2023, Why Should Guys Have All the Fun? has captivated readers worldwide, securing a spot as an Amazon #1 New Release for eight weeks. The book is available for purchase through Fully Booked in the Philippines and major retailers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. In 2024, the audiobook version, narrated by Loida herself, was made available on platforms like Audible and Kobo.
