Seiko, a global leader in watchmaking, has been a leader in craftsmanship and innovation since its inception in 1881. The brand, guided by founder Kintaro Hattori’s philosophy, has been pushing itself forward since its inaugural wristwatch in 1924. As the brand celebrates its centennial milestone, it is preparing to unveil new limited-edition releases to capture collectors and watch enthusiasts.

Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Makes a Global Debut

Seiko unveils the Prospex Marinemaster trio: SJE099 and SJE101 as mainline introductions, and the limited-edition SJE097 with only 1,000 pieces being sold worldwide. This release marks the official global debut of the Marinemaster line, drawing design inspiration from the revered 1965 iconic 62MAS – Seiko’s inaugural dive watch and the first of its kind crafted in Japan. These watches exude a fresh aesthetic with wave-like textured dials and the ‘Marinemaster’ insignia placed elegantly near the Seiko logo at the 12 o’clock position. The limited edition features a silvery-white dial to honor Seiko’s 100th brand anniversary, while mainline versions offer light blue and black dials, all paying tribute to the original diver’s watch heritage.

The trio boasts the automatic Seiko Caliber 6L37, part of the slimline Caliber 6L series crafted specifically for diving. The clock hands come with Lumibrite-filled indexes and a glowing marker on the rotating bezel for improved visibility especially when in the dark. With enhanced shock resistance and an exhibition case back, they showcase the high-performance mechanical movement. Achieving a slim profile of 12.3mm, these Marinemaster watches are Seiko’s thinnest mechanical diver’s watches yet, blending functionality and aesthetics with a nod to the classic 62MAS profile.

The Retro-Style Seiko Presage Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition

A meticulously crafted timepiece that authentically embodies the vintage allure of its predecessor: the Seiko Presage Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition (SPB441). Resembling the 1924 original, the Seiko emblem at 12 o’clock boasts a distinctive typeface from that era, while the Arabic numerals honor the original font, blending boldness with dynamic design, featuring both thick and slender lines. It proudly showcases an enamel dial, a testament to craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his colleagues’ mastery in enamel production. This age-old technique ensures an enduring, striking white appearance, echoing the classic aesthetics of yesteryears.

Powering this timepiece is the new Caliber 6R5H, echoing the original’s small seconds sub-dial with a 24-hour sub-dial at six o’clock. The retro-styled blue hands stand out against the pristine white enamel, evoking the vintage essence of the original. Proudly bearing the iconic “S” trademark registered by Kintaro in 1900, the case back and crown symbolize the enduring legacy of Seikosha.

Included in the special box accompanying the watch is a special pin badge featuring the same trademark “S,” offering an additional tribute. Despite the challenges faced during the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, this timepiece, with movable lugs and a pull-through leather strap, pays homage to Kintaro’s resilient spirit and the 1924 launch, seamlessly blending historical aesthetics with contemporary comfort and durability. Only 1,000 pieces is being sold globally.

A New Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph

Inspired by the 1972 Speedtimer chronograph, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph (SRQ047) seamlessly blends heritage design with modernity. Its flowing case, multi-row bracelet, and iconic panda-style dial honor the original’s spirit. Crafted with Seiko’s advanced watchmaking tech, the case and bracelet boast refined finishes for a classic look and comfort. Powering it is the Caliber 8R48, assembled by Seiko’s experts for precision. With enhanced robustness and precision through MEMS tech, it embodies durability. The Seiko Brand 100th Anniversary Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph Limited-Edition (SRQ049), with only 1,000 pieces, mirrors the SRQ047’s design. Featuring a blue-grey dial and silver-white sub-dials, it exudes sophistication. Offered with a metal bracelet or a durable black leather strap, it’s a versatile tribute.

Seiko proudly embraces its rich legacy while eagerly charting a course forward, driven by innovation. It celebrates its cherished tradition of craftsmanship, continuously seeking fresh avenues to enhance the timekeeping experience for its patrons.
