This year marks a new era for smartwatch innovation as Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. launches two smartwatches—the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic. For the most part, the two feature similar specs and design cues but are built for different users. They are the first smartwatches to feature the new Wear OS Powered by Samsung, built jointly with Google, and are equipped with One UI Watch, Samsung’s most intuitive user interface yet.

The Galaxy Watch4 series is bolstered with advanced hardware performance and delivers a more seamless and connected user experience than ever before. These new devices have been completely redesigned to provide consumers with the best tools to manage their wellness.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 is the “sequel” to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 which has a sporty vibe in a smaller form that comes in new and fresh colorways. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic is the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Watch 3. It sports a rotating bezel which is both a handy navigation tool and an excellent fidget spinner. Since the original Samsung Galaxy Watch debuted the bezel, it’s become as iconic to the product. Both versions of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 feature a redesigned frame that allows for gapless transition from the smartwatch chassis to the straps. The uniform set of crown buttons also sport an oblong shape, rather than one protruding round crown accompanied by a flush side button.

Both devices have bigger, brighter displays than before, offer longer battery life, and have new health features that aim to give you a more holistic view of your current health conditions. The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 doesn’t bring any major hardware upgrades compared to previous watches. It’s the new software here that makes this a potentially exciting device. Both devices are packed with heart rate monitoring (PPG), an electrocardiogram reader (ECG), and bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) for a 3-in-1 sensor that sits closer to the skin than the individual health sensors in the previous Galaxy Watch. Of those, BIA is the big news. Similar to what you’ll find on the best smart scales, BIA sends a weak electric current through your body to analyze body fat percentage, body mass index (BMI), muscle mass, bone mass, body water percentage, and more. Taking a BIA reading is quick by simply holding your fingers against the crown buttons for about 15 seconds without those fingers resting on the skin next to your smartwatch.

Simplicity, ease, and efficiency are hallmarks of the Galaxy smartwatch platform—and with Samsung’s brand-new One UI Watch, and Wear OS Powered by Samsung, it has made the smartwatch and Galaxy experience even more seamless. With One UI Watch, compatible apps are automatically installed on your watch when downloaded on your phone, and your important settings, like do not disturb hours and blocked callers, are synced instantly. Auto Switch ensures your earbuds can toggle audio between your phone and watch, depending on usage. You can also effortlessly control your mobile experience with Bixby voice, bezel, and Gesture Controls. Move your forearm up and down twice to receive calls and rotate your wrist twice to reject them or to dismiss notifications and alarms. The new platform also includes support for leading third-party apps9, like Adidas Running, Calm, Strava, and Spotify available from Google Play.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic are now available for pre-order in select markets with retail availability starting September 22. Both watches showcase a sleek, iconic silhouette, with thinner cases than previous generations—and a variety of straps and customizable watch faces, so your watch is uniquely you. The Galaxy Watch4 comes in a 40mm variant in Black, Silver, and Pink Gold and a 44mm variant in Black, Silver, and Green, priced at P12,990 for the Bluetooth version. The Galaxy Watch4 Classic with the rotating bezel is priced at P17,990 for the Bluetooth version and will be available in 42mm and 46mm variants in Black and Silver.
